We are very proud of our Loreto uniform. Pupils’ appearance and behaviour reflect directly on the College and our uniform is a symbol of our shared community and vision. All pupils wear the full school uniform in school and while travelling to and from school.

 

  • The school blazer should be worn while travelling to and from school, on the corridors and when representing the school.

  • All belongings must be clearly labelled with the owner’s name and class.

  • Valuables should not be brought to school.

  • Non-uniform items will be confiscated.

An additional school coat is recommended.  Any pupil who wears a coat must have the approved uniform coat or a dark coloured navy coat with no emblems or badges. Please note that hooded tops are not accepted as part of the uniform and should not be worn at any time including whilst travelling to and from school.

If a scarf is worn, it must be the uniform scarf.  Gloves should be plain navy.  In cold weather a plain navy wool cap may be worn.

 

Hair trims must be plain royal blue or black. Hair dyeing is not permitted. Hair must be natural. The only jewellery permitted is a watch (no smart watches) and a small pair of plain stud earrings.

Safety:

The wearing of shin guards is obligatory for boys and must be worn in class and in competition (e.g. soccer); helmets for hurling and camogie are required – school has a small supply which students can borrow if required. A gum shield for Gaelic is obligatory.

 

School PE Uniform is obligatory and must be worn by all students.  All items must be labelled.

 

Non-uniform items are not allowed.

Additional Information Regarding Presentation

Girls

No make-up is allowed. This includes fake tan, false nails and false eyelashes.

 

No nail polish.

 

Hair dye is not permitted. Hair should be natural in colour.

 

Hair must be neat and tidy with school colour hair trims only.

 

No inappropriate hair styles.

 

Jewellery is not permitted (other than a single pair of studs or a traditional watch).

 

The only piercings allowed are a small plain pair of stud earrings worn in the lower lobe of the ears (one earring in each ear).

 

Flat formal black school shoes only to be worn.

 

School badges only to be worn.

Tattoos are not permitted.

 

Hooded tops are not permitted at any time.

Boys

Clean shaven

 

Hair must be neat and tidy (shorter than collar length).

 

Hair: nothing shorter than a grade 2 is permitted. There must be an obvious fade between the sides and the top of the hairstyle.

 

Hair dye is not permitted. Hair should be natural in colour.

Formal black school shoes only to be worn.

 

School badges only to be worn.
