· In July/August 2019, Keeva Smyth and Dearbhla Ni Choisneachain were awarded Nuffield Research placements in conjunction with Altnagelvin hospital.
· Keeva’s project was entitled ‘A simplified diagram linking REV-ERBa, a component of the Molecular Circadian Oscillator, to the Regulation of the Synthesis of Cholesteral through SREBP and the Synthesis of Bile Acid through CYP7A1’
· Dearbhlas’s project was entitled ‘Identification of the Factors affecting Cholesterol Homeostatis with particular attention to Vitamin D’.
· In July 2020 Cheyanne Corbett was also awarded a Nuffield Research Placement where she researched ‘Hubble’s Law and the expansion of the universe’ in conjunction with the Ulster University. In September, she was then also subsequently awarded a Gold Crest award for scientific research from the British Science Association for her STEM project work and a BT Young Scientist certificate for her work.
