Mandarin is taught after school on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3.20-4.20 pm in LG1.   The class is taken by a native Mandarin teacher provided by the Confucius Institute of China.  The class is open to all students from year 8 right up to year 14 but is particularly useful for sixth-form students who wish to enhance their skill-set portfolio in preparation for tertiary education. 

 

Students learn about the culture & traditions of China as well as learning the language in oral, aural and written forms.  Accreditation in language proficiency is provided at the end of the year through the provision of and participation in the HSK 1 examination which recognizes student ability in Mandarin at Beginner Level.
