13/02/2017 KEEPING THE SPIRIT OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS’ WEEK ALIVE

In late January, Mr Conroy and several Year 13 students attended a special Mass in St Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry to celebrate Catholic Schools’ Week.

The theme of the Mass was ‘Learning with Pope Francis to care for our common home’.  Pope Francis wrote a Papal Letter called ‘Laudato Si’, reminding us that we all have a responsibility to care for God’s creation.

Each school in the Derry Diocese was presented with a tree to plant as a symbol of that care we are called to have.  The tree is to serve as a reminder to us all to do our part.  Mr Conroy and a group of Year 13 students planted the tree on a cold February morning to bring this spirit to life in the Loreto College grounds.
