A group of students from Loreto College Coleraine have begun a campaign of fundraising in memory of their much-loved friend and classmate, Reece Meenan.

The Year 10 students have decided to raise enough money so that Reece’s life can be commemorated in the new landscaped area of the stand at Anfield, as part of the Anfield Forever project.  Reece was a lifelong and passionate Liverpool supporter, so his friends felt that this would be the ideal tribute to him.

The students, assisted by Head of RE Mrs Siobhan McCarry, Reece’s form tutor Ms Rionagh Kirby and Classroom Assistant Mrs Karen Lagan, held a cookie sale to begin their fundraising on Thursday 19th January.  This was generously supported by Tesco, Coleraine, who provided the cookies free of charge when they heard the story behind the sale.  The boys raised an impressive £390, a huge step towards their target of £500.

Mr Michael James, Principal of Loreto College, commended the students and their teachers on their generosity and initative and on working towards such a fitting tribute to Reece.
