28/11/2016 LORETO COLLEGE PRESENTS JUNIOR DRAMA PERFORMANCES

On Saturday 26th November, after three months’ hard work and preparation, Loreto College’s Junior Drama Club staged its first Autumn Show, presenting extracts from three well-known musicals.

Working under the direction of Year 13 and some Year 14 Theatre Studies students, three groups of Junior pupils presented performances of a really impressive standard.  A Year 8 group presented a selection of scenes from Matilda, a Year 9 group scenes from Bugsy Malone and a Year 10 group scenes from The Wizard of Oz.  All three performances were full of spirit, enthusiasm and great skill and all three delighted the audience of family, friends and friends of the College.

Mrs Oonah McEwan, Head of Drama at Loreto, paid tribute to the team of sixth form directors, musical assistants and lighting/sound technicians who had made the evening such a success and who had worked with great dedication with the junior pupils throughout the Autumn Term.  Mr Michael James, College Principal, congratulated all involved on an excellent evening of entertainment which saw over 40 junior pupils getting involved in acting, song and dance on the Loreto stage, many of them for the first time.
