29/04/2016 LORETO COLLEGE STUDENTS IN MAGNIFICENT TROCAIRE EFFORT

Staff and students of Loreto College Coleraine have raised a magnificent total of £4061 for Trócaire in the College’s annual Lenten fund-raising campaign.  When met with government funding, this will equate to an amazing £8,122.

Each form class in the College collected money each week, with some classes organising specific activities, such as raffles and cake sales, to add to their funds. The top fundraising form classes were The top three classes were Mrs McAleese’s Year 8 class, raising £391, Mrs McBroom’s 9B, raising £434, and Mrs McCool’s 10B, raising £496. These classes were presented with certificates of achievement, while the top fund-raiser in the whole school was Corey Cassidy, Year 9, who raised an impressive £58.

Mrs Lorraine McCool, Social Justice Co-ordinator at Loreto College, paid tribute to all those who had got involved in the Trócaire campaign this year, contributing their initiative, ideas and generosity to such great effect.  Mrs McCool commented that seeing such an impressive sum being raised for such a good cause during times of recession was evidence of the Loreto Ethos in action.  Mr Michael James, College Principal, thanked Mrs McCool for leading the fund-raising and joined her in paying tribute to the generosity of everyone who had contributed their time, effort, ideas and financial support.
