Two talented young swimmers from Loreto College Coleraine won medals at the Ulster Age Group Championships held in Bangor during the first weekend of the Summer Term.

Eoin Mullan, who is a Year 9 student at Loreto College, won Gold in the 100 metres Freestyle, Silver in the 100 metres Butterfly and Bronze in the 400 metres Individual Medley events. Eoin is a member of the Ulster Development Squad and will now go on to compete in the Irish Age Groups championships in July.

Shannon Baird (Year 8) also participated in the Championships, entering 5 individual events and 1 team relay.   She got through to the finals in all her events and brought home 5 PB’s with a Bronze medal in the 100m Breaststroke.  These swims have also given Shannon two further qualifying times for the Irish Age Group Championships in July at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin. A member of Coleraine Swimming Club, Shannon enjoys regular competitive training with the Ulster Performance Centre Development Squad in Bangor and Swim Ulster Talent Development Squad in Magherafelt.

Eoin and Shannon were congratulated on this successful day’s competition by Mr Michael James, Principal of Loreto College, on behalf of all the staff and students of Loreto College.
