Antonia Boorman (Y14) who has won a place at Minerva University

Huge congratulations to Antonia Boorman (Year 14), who has won a coveted scholarship and unconditional offer to Minerva University, USA.

Antonia obtained an unconditional offer and a full scholarship based on merit, for "scoring in the highest national percentile in America on her SATs, whilst simultaneously achieving well in her AS Levels", to attend Minerva University.

Minerva is based in San Francisco for the first year, but then continues in Buenos Aires, Berlin, Bangalore, Seoul, Istanbul and London. This means that Antonia will have the incredible opportunity of studying throughout the world, immersing herself in various extraordinary cultures whilst studying under the guidance of her Ivy League professors (most originally from Brown, Stanford and Harvard).

Minerva's acceptance rate is lower than that of the Ivy Leagues, at 1.9%, targeting a global variety of students. With over 16, 000 applications from 50 countries for 306 places, Antonia comments that she was immensely shocked and honoured to discover that she was the only person selected to attend from Ireland (Republic and North): a huge achievement! Antonia adds that this was an offer which she could not refuse, so she has now enrolled and will be officially attending Minerva University from August 2016.

Antonia was congratulated on this superb achievement, and wished well on the next stage of her educational adventures, by Mr Michael James, Principal of Loreto College, on behalf of all the staff and students of the College.
