A student from Loreto College Coleraine has won through the local heat of the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Development competition and will represent the Coleraine area in the Regional Heat later this year.

Cariosa O’Harte, who is in Year 13 at Loreto College, took first place in the local heat of the competition, held in Coleraine last week.  She will now represent the local area in the regional heat later in the Autumn Term, with an opportunity to be selected selected as one of the three regional winners who will attend the Euroscola event in the European Parliament, Strasbourg, later in the year.

No stranger to success, Cariosa is well known in Loreto College as an accomplished musician as well as for significant academic success.  One of Loreto’s top achievers at GCSE, Cariosa was placed Second in CCEA GCSE Economics, and is now studying for A Levels in Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics and Physics.  Cariosa is well known in Loreto for her outstanding harp playing, and is a member of the College’s very successful traditional group as well as an excellent soloist.

Mr Michael James, Principal of Loreto College, congratulated Cariosa on this highly impressive achievement, commending her on her enthusiasm, hard work and leadership skills as well as her generosity in contributing to many areas of school life.
