A highlight of the Autumn Term is coming soon to Loreto College: the Loreto production of well-loved musical, ‘The Sound of Music’.

Directed by Mrs Oonah McEwan and with Musical Direction by Mr Howard Gillespie, the production runs from Tuesday 13th- Friday 16th October, with tickets on sale from the College now.

The musical showcases the talent of a fifty-strong cast, drawn from Years 9-14 of the College’s students.  Caitlin Martin (Year 13) takes the central role of Maria, with Connor Dudley-Fergus (Year 14) as Captain Von Trapp.  The Von Trapp children are played by Roisin McMorrough (Year 12), Pearse Donaghy (Year 12), Aine Quigley (Year 11), Aine Apperley (Year 9), Patrick McMullan (Year 9), Orla McEwan (Year 9) and Erin McReynolds (Year 9), while the part of Rolf is played by Gareth Doherty (Year 14).  Niamh Morrison (Year 13) plays the part of the Mother Abbess, with Niamh Cunning (Year 12), Aoife Boorman (Year 13), Brona Mackle (Year 12), Sarah Purvis (Year 13) and Emily Cameron (Year 13) among the members of the Convent, leading the Nuns’ Chorus.  Completing the cast are Therese Mullaghan (Year 14) as Elsa, Niall Hunter (Year 14) as Max, Daniel Catterson (Year 14) as Max, Rachel Wilkinson (Year 14) as Frau Schmidt, John-Joe O’Neill (Year 13) as Admiral Von Schreiber, Cormac McCarry (Year 13) as Herr Zeller, and Orla Rafferty (Year 14) as Ursula. 

With many well-known songs and a heart-warming plot, ‘The Sound of Music’ offers something for everyone in the audience as the Autumn evenings grow dark.  Those wishing to book tickets should contact Loreto College directly on 028 70343611, before this wonderful show sells out!
