06/11/2013 LORETO COLLEGE CELEBRATES SUCCESS OF KICK-BOXING WORLD CHAMPION

Tribute was paid at Loreto College this week to Chloe Hope, a Year 9 student, who recently won a Gold medal at the WKU World Kickboxing Championships.

Chloe, who trains with and fights for the Limavady Titans Kickboxing Club, was representing Northern Ireland for the first time at this prestigious event, which was held in Greece.  Aged only 12, Chloe is already Northern Ireland, ‘semi-tec’ and club champion in her age group as well has having won the Northern Ireland Open competition.  She is a purple belt holder, and one of a number of members of the Limavady Titans club who qualified to represent Northern Ireland at the World Championships.

Modest about her achievements, Chloe paid tribute to her coaches:

“I definitely have to give all the credit to my coaches, Willie Lowry, Liam McLaughlin, Collins McGowan, Rodney Douglas, Jordan Duffy and Mark McGonigle, who have supported me throughout the years I have been at the club.”

Mr Michael James, Principal of Loreto College, paid tribute to Chloe’s talent, hard work and dedication, congratulating her on this tremendous achievement at College Assembly.  Mr James commented that with the talent and dedication Chloe had already demonstrated, she was clearly a talent to watch out for in the years ahead.
