Loreto College Coleraine is delighted to present the Year 8 classes of 2013-2014.

Year 8 are enjoying their first term at Loreto and beginning to feel very much at home.  They are enjoying getting to know their Head of Year, Mr L Shaw, and their form teachers, Mr Shaw, Mr Murphy, Mrs McAleese, Mrs Sweeney and Bean Ui Mhainain.

In Year 8, Loreto students enjoy a wide curriculum spanning English, Mathematics, Religious Education, Science,  History, Geography, French, Spanish, Irish, Drama, Music, IT, Art, Home Economics, Technology, Physical Education, Swimming,  Use of Library and Learning for Life and Work.  They also have weekly form classes and quickly get involved in a range of extra-curricular activities.

Many Loreto Year 8 students have already joined school teams for a wide range of sports.  Many have also joined the Junior Choir, the Orchestra, and are taking instrumental or singing lessons.  Students have also got involved in charity collections, drama groups, Maths Club, creative writing competitions, the Environmental Group, school liturgies and much more.

At Loreto College, Year 8 students each have a mentor from Year 13 – a friend from an older year who will be on hand to offer advice or assistance when needed.  All Loreto’s Year 8s and their Year 13 mentors went on a sponsored walk in Mountsandel Forest at the end of September, to raise money for Action MS and enjoy an afternoon together.  In addition to this, each form class has a Senior Prefect (Year 14) to watch out for them.

Everyone at Loreto College is glad to see the 2013 Year 8 classes looking so happy, and the Year 8 students have enjoyed their first Half Term of Grammar School.
