24/09/2013 CELEBRATORY MASS MARKS THE OPENING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AT LORETO COLLEGE

The Opening Mass for the academic year 2012-2013 was celebrated at Loreto College Coleraine on Tuesday 24th September 2013, by Father Charles Keaney and Father A Brankin. The theme of the Mass was ‘The Touch of the Master’s Hand’, and it offered reflection on themes of the unique and individual talents and qualities which every member of the school community has, and how these might be nurtured in the year ahead.

The Mass also picked up on the excellence in traditional music and dance in the All Ireland Fleadh, held in August 2013 in Derry.  Speaking at the Mass, Father Charles Keaney encouraged every member of the school community to develop their talents and culture, inspired by the example of Derry as UK City of Culture throughout 2013, and by the traditional music and dance which formed part of the celebration.

Organised by school Liturgist Mr Kevin Conroy and by the members of the RE department, with support from the Music Department and Art Department and involving every member of the school community and the Loreto Community, the Mass provided an inspirational reflection for the year ahead.
