16/08/2013 TOP CLASS RESULTS FOR LORETO COLLEGE A LEVEL STUDENTS

A level students from Loreto College Coleraine have achieved outstanding results, with more students than ever achieving top grades. 

Of all A level grades gained by the Loreto College Year 14 students of 2013, over 75%  were grade B or better. An impressive total of 84% of the Year 14 class of 2013 gained three or more grade A*-C results at A level, with a total of 21 students gaining three grade A results or better. 100% of students in the Year 14 group gained two or more A*-E grades, maintaining the high standards of previous years.

The 21 students gaining three grade A results or better were:  Lee Brownlow, Darren Close, Orrin Devlin, Norene McBride, Dervla McCloskey, Tomas McCloskey, Fiona McGrath, Catherine McLaughlin, Eilish McLaughlin, John McLister, Vincent McMullan, Ger Mullan, Oonagh Nugent, Cristin O’Kane, Eve O’Loan, Danielle O’Neill, Lauren O’Neill, Orla Quigg, Gemma Reid, Niall Reid and Clare Tracey.

Among the top achievers at Loreto College was Catherine McLaughlin, who gained three A* grades Biology, English Literature and History along with an A grade in Government and Politics; Catherine will now take up a place at Christchurch, Oxford to read Law. Other outstanding achievers were John McLister, who gained four A grades in Biology, Chemistry, Economics and Mathematics, Ger Mullan, who gained A* in Mathematics along with A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Spanish, and Clare Tracey, who gained A* in Economics, as well as A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Mr Michael James, Principal of Loreto College, commented that he was absolutely delighted with the results achieved by the A level students of 2013.  Mr James commented:

‘I would like to congratulate the students and their teachers for their hard work and commitment throughout the two years and I wish all our departing students success in their future studies and careers.’
