02/09/2010 GCSE SUCCESS STORY FOR LORETO COLLEGE STUDENTS

Loreto College Coleraine, Specialist School, is celebrating outstanding results in the June 2010 GCSE examinations, as the Autumn terms begins.

Mr Brian Lenehan, Principal of Loreto College, paid tribute to the Year 12 students of 2009-2010 and to their teachers for their hard work and determination in gaining excellent results across the full range of subjects on offer at the College.

Mr Lenehan explained:

117 sat the GCSE examinations in the Summer Term. 91% of these pupils achieved 7 A*-C grades including Mathematics and English. 47% of all grades gained were A or A*, and 19% of all grades were A*. 18 students gained 9 A grades or better.

The students who gained 9 A grades or better were: Caoimhe Bond, Anna Breslin, Michael Cheuk, Natalie Costello, Eoin Cunning, Angus Dinsmore, Katherine Giddins, Hannah Janes, Emma Kelly, Mary Kate Mackle, Daniel McAleese, James McCullagh, Aodan McIlvenney, Megan McLaughlin, Maria Mooney, Joshua Quigley, Conor Reid and Bronagh Ward.

Mr Lenehan congratulated these students and all those who took their GCSE examinations at Loreto College last summer, on behalf of all the staff of the College, and wished the students well in the next phase of their studies.
