The Senior Gaelic team from Loreto College Coleraine, Specialist School, qualified for its first Nolan Cup final with a deserved 1-9 to 1-3 win over a Glen Road CBS side at the end of January.  In difficult conditions at Kevin Lynch Park, Dungiven, both sides struggled to cope with the near gale force wind.

The Belfast side conceded many frees and they met taxing opposition from the Coleraine side, most notably in the accuracy of Aidan Mullan, who landed six frees, and Ronan Mullan (1-1), whose goal from the penalty spot in the 12th minute gave the Loreto team a 1-5 to 0-1 interval lead.

The losers did rally with a 43rd minute goal from James Reid to cut the advantage to four points, but a red card for Kevin Gillen eight minutes from time and a superb Fergal Rainey score four minutes later ensured a final meeting with either Lumen Christi College, Derry or Aquinas Grammar, Belfast.

The team and its coach, Mr Bob Murphy, were congratulated on their win and wished well for the Final by Mr Brian Lenehan, Principal of Loreto College, on behalf of all the staff and students of the school.
