10/10/2008 LOCAL ACCOLADE FOR LORETO TRAMPOLINING TALENT

A talented young sportsman from Loreto College Coleraine, Specialist School, was honoured recently for his achievements in trampolining at the Ballymoney Borough Council Sports Awards.

Aidan Carlin, who is in Year 10 at Loreto College and who trains at the Riada Gymnastics and Trampolining Club under coach Karen Graham, won the award for Most Promising Sportsman in the Under 14 age group.  Despite his young age, Aidan is already competing at Advanced level in trampolining.  Last year, Aidan became Northern Ireland Under 15 champion, and then went on to provide a winning performance at the Irish National Finals, contributing to the winning advanced team by claiming the All Ireland Under 15 Boys’ title.

Aidan has already qualified for the All Ireland Trampolining Finals, to be held in the spring of 2009.  Joining him at this event will be Eve O’Loan, who is also in Year 10 at Loreto College: another promising talent, Eve ended the 2007-08 season with a second place in the Northern Ireland finals, and is now preparing to build on this success.

Both Aidan and Eve, along with their coach Ms Karen Graham, were congratulated by Mr Brian Lenehan, Principal of Loreto College, and Mrs Maureen McCullough, Head of PE at Loreto, on these tremendous achievements.
