The annual Ecumenical Services took place at Loreto College Coleraine on Friday 24th January 2020, celebrating Christian Unity and the principles, prayers and priorities which the various Christian churches have in common.

With groups from Years 8-12 reflecting on Christian Unity with their Form Teachers, the Year 13-14 students enjoyed a very special celebration which was attended by visitors from local Coleraine schools, local clergy and the Loreto Community.

The theme of Christian Unity week 2020 was unusual kindness.  The story of St Paul’s being shipwrecked on Malta, where he received unusual kindness from the inhabitants, is told in Acts 27 and 28 leads us, during this Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, to reflect upon many aspects of our own lives and the lives of our churches. As we approach one another, seeking unity, we recognize that we sometimes carry baggage from history, tradition and cultural expectation, which can weigh us down and threaten to overwhelm us.

Mr Michael James, Principal of Loreto College, paid tribute to all the visiting clergy, students and teachers and emphasised the value of members of all Christian denominations recognising and celebrating their common beliefs and values.
