09/01/2019 ACTION MS PAY TRIBUTE TO FUNDRAISERS

Last June, all Year 8 students and their form teachers took part in a Beach Walk to raise money for Action MS.  A wonderful total of £2241.21 was raised.

On Wednesday 9th January, Loreto College’s two top fundraisers, Amelia Murphy (who raised £215) and Conor McColgan (who raised £130), along with Social Justice Co-ordinator Mrs Lorraine McCool, attended the annual Action MS Luncheon in Belfast, at which top fundraisers from throughout Northern Ireland were presented with certificates and awards in recognition of their efforts.

Ann Walker MBE, Chief Executive of Action MS Northern Ireland, paid tribute to all the young fundraisers who had ‘taken steps to help individuals and families who are living with multiple sclerosis’.

Ms Walker commented: ‘You follow in the tradition of generations of young people who “made the effort”.  Some of them found the experience of helping an inspiration that sent them out on a journey to do even greater things.  Many were surprised at just how fulfilling their contribution was to them.  They “caught the bug” of volunteering, made some lifelong friends and found their life’s work in the caring professions – as nurses, doctors, charity workers.’

Mrs McCool paid tribute to Amelia and Conor and to all the Year 9 students who had raised such an impressive sum for Action MS last year.
