The Loreto year 8 Gaelic footballers faced a tough test in order to progress to the quarter finals where Ballygawley awaits.

Loreto 3.2  St. Columb’s College 2.3
Loreto began the competition against a revenge seeking St. Columb’s team in the first game in perfect conditions at St. Canice’s Dungiven.  St Columb’s certainly meant business from the throw in, leading 1.2 to no score within the first 5 minutes of the first game.  Loreto replied with two points just before the half time whistle.  Again, St Columb’s started the second half the hungrier of the two teams.  They scored 1.1 within the first 5 minutes of the second half, leaving Loreto with a mountain to climb.  Needless to say, the Loreto team found another gear within themselves and pressed on.  They got their just rewards by scoring 3 goals, the last coming with 2 minutes left to play.  Highlight of the game came when Eoin made a 40-yard solo run from deep and buried the ball into the roof of the goal.

Loreto 0.4   Gleann na Ro 6.4
The second game of the playoff blitz for Loreto was against a very strong Gleann na Ro team, which is made up of an amalgamation of boys from St Mary’s HS Limavady, St.Patrick’s HS Dungiven and Gaelscoil Neachtain.  The Loreto players worked tirelessly, however on this occasion their best efforts weren’t enough against the strength and depth of the Gleann na Ro team.  Highlight of this game for Loreto were the two excellent points kicked from distance by Aine whilst under serious pressure.
