20/06/2018 CRANNAGH TRIP FOR YEAR 10 STUDENTS

A number of Year 10 students enjoyed an afternoon of adventure at the Crannagh Complex, Portstewart, on Tuesday 19th June, accompanied by Mrs McCullough.  The event, which was also attended by Year 10 students from Coleraine College, Coleraine Grammar School and North Coast Integrated College, was part of the Causeway Coast and Glens’ PEACE IV Partnership’s Good Relations out of School programme. The aim of the session was to give Year 10 pupils an opportunity to experience sports and leisure activities not normally associated with their community background and to introduce them to the diversity of sporting heritage traditions.

The students explored the Edge Watersports Waterpark, tackling the water-based assault course with great energy and enthusiasm (despite the rain).  They had a wet but fantastic afternoon with past pupils Caite Skelly and Rory Stewart taking the banana boating and Giant paddle board.  16 y10s got hot food at the end to warm up some very cold bodies!   They all came away with great memories and a water bottle.

Many thanks to Stephen McCartney and the Active Community coaches who organised the event and The Edge at the Crannagh for a fab evening in spite of the weather!
