10/05/2018 SUCCESS FOR LORETO ATHLETES AT DISTRICT FINALS

Mr McCloskey and Mr McKernan accompanied the Loreto Athletics team to the Antrim Forum for the District C championships on Wednesday 9th May: it was a cold, wet day but there were a few successes to celebrate for the Loreto team.

Niamh Carr took first place in Senior Girls 800 and 1500m races, while Tolu Jide-Ojo was placed second in both her events, the Intermediate Girls 100m and Long Jump. Both girls qualify for the Ulster Finals, to be held on Saturday 19th May.  Cara McLaughlin took fifth place in the 1500m, Lauren Thom was sixth in the 800m in the Junior Girls age group.  Sophia Coyle was fifth in the Mini Girls 800m and the Mini Girls Relay team were fourth: well done to team members Layla O'Hara, Niamh Guiney, Amelia Rugulinska and Meabh Boylan.

Mrs Maureen McCullough, Head of PE at Loreto College, commented that this was a fantastic achievements by all athletes; all those who represented loreto with such distinction were congratulated by Mr Michael James, College Principal.
