Sports stars gathered in the Lodge Hotel on Friday 4th November 2017 for the second annual Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council Sports Awards ceremony.

The gala evening brought together regional winners from Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady, and Moyle. The shortlisted nominees found out on the night if they have won the overall award in their category. This year, the standard of nominees was higher than ever and the independent assessment panel had a very difficult task in selecting the winners for a number of categories.

A total of 14 awards were presented on the night in recognition of the achievements and contribution of the many talented athletes, teams, and volunteers within the area representing a diverse range of sporting disciplines.

Loreto College student Kyle Cooper (Year 8) was one of four shortlisted in the Sportsperson with a Disability category, an accolade which he had already won in the Moyle area.  Kyle swims for Coleraine Swimming Club and has won many medals both locally and nationally.  Kyle’s teachers and fellow students at Loreto College Coleraine were delighted to learn that he was named winner of the Sportsperson with a Disability award at the Awards Ceremony.

Kyle was congratulated on this superb award by Mr Michael James, Principal of Loreto College, on behalf of all the staff and students of the College, and wished well on all his future swimming training and competitions.
